Moss Wall Panels: Everything You Need to Know

What is Preserved Moss?

Moss is a very common non-flowering plant; preserved moss is moss that is no longer living and has been chemically treated for preservation. It is completely safe and non-toxic and as it lasts a long time and requires little maintenance, it’s a popular choice to be used as décor in homes, offices, hotels, and restaurants.

What is the Difference Between Reindeer Moss and Bun Moss?

Reindeer moss is a type of fungus from the lichen species. It has a unique form that makes for great décor! It’s known as reindeer moss as it is a significant part in a reindeer’s diet and the structure resembles that of a reindeer’s antlers. Bun moss (also known as cushion moss) is more tightly packed together and creates a pillow-like feel and appearance.

Are Moss Wall Panels Hard to Maintain?

The best thing about persevered moss walls is how easy they are to maintain. As preserved moss isn’t living, watering isn’t necessary, and it doesn’t need to be placed in direct sunlight – giving you much more flexibility on the placement of your moss wall!

What are the Benefits of Preserved Moss Walls Panels?

Natural Aesthetic

As moss is natural, and preserved moss retains its natural look, it can provide an interior with a wonderful boost of nature. Moss panels are especially ideal for environments such as offices where a pop of colour and the addition of something natural can make a significant difference to both the feel of the space and people’s mental wellbeing.

Moss wall panels are also ideal for adding to a biophilic interior design. Biophilia is all about bringing nature to the indoors and a moss wall panel is a simple and easy way to do this without having to worry about maintaining numerous plants.

Sound Absorbing Properties

Moss wall panels don’t just offer aesthetic benefits, they are also great at improving room acoustics. Moss wall panels are sound absorbent, so whilst they add to the interior design of your space, they also help reduce noise levels and reverberation to improve interior sound quality.

Easy to Maintain

Preserved moss only needs a light dusting every so often to prevent dust build up. Other than that, it doesn’t require any maintenance which makes it ideal if you’re wanting to add an element of nature to a space without the hassle of caring for a living plant.

How Long do Preserved Moss Walls Last?

There isn’t a definite answer to how long they will last as it will depend on the environment the moss wall panel is in. However, preserved moss walls can last several years provided they are kept out of direct sunlight, not watered or sprayed, and are placed in an environment with a humidity level above 35%.

Living VS Preserved Moss
